Specials

Jane Nordstrom Training offers a selection of high quality horses, many of which have “AA” show records and all of which are show ready and show quality.

Some of our horses are privately owned and are used for lessons judiciously with permission of their time-stressed owners.  This is a win-win situation: the horses are kept in supervised work while students have higher quality horses to ride in lessons.

Some horses are available for half-lease or lease (on premises lease only).

Woody, aka “My Silver Lining”

Woody is well-known and much beloved in the Northern Virginia horse community.  He has taken numerous riders from just starting out to winning at the A show level, earning too many championships to name in the 2’6” & 3’ divisions.  He is a skilled schoolmaster who can safely teach a beginner to walk, trot, canter and jump; or help a more advanced rider hone their skills.

As recently as December 2011, he earned blue ribbons and tri-colors at local shows in the children’s hunter division and was champion at HITS Culpeper.  Woody has never failed to bring home ribbons, no matter what level he shows at.

Woody is a 15.3 hand, grey Appendix QH gelding who will never turn down a treat, and who long ago decided life was much easier if he went with the flow.  A loving, easy horse to ride and work around.
Jewel, aka “Jersey Girl”
This appendix quarterhorse mare lives up to her name.  We describe Jewel as a “seeing eye horse for the distance challenged,” as she finds the right spot to jump every time.  Safe, sane and quiet, she is suitable for both children and adults.

Jewel is comfortable and easy to ride, and has been a consistent star in the pleasure and 2’6” hunter divisions as well as a wonderful equitation horse.

Jewel is also 15.3 hands.  She’s a big-bodied  chestnut roan with a blaze and one white sock.  She’s a pretty mover with a cute jump and is a barn favorite ride.
Shu-shu, aka “Galeta”
This wonderful 11-year-old German Riding Horse registered mare is sweet, athletic and talented. She is currently being shown at the “AA” level in the 3’ Older Children’s Hunter and Medals, and has been in the ribbons at every show she has gone to.

With experienced riders, Shu-shu can do 3’6” and up divisions. She has a textbook jump and beautiful movement coupled with a workmanlike attitude. Shu-shu also competes in jumpers, winning a 2010 class at Lexington in the 1M jumpers and taking home ribbons in the 1.05M as well
Bubbles, aka "Solid Gold"

Bubbles is a wonderful horse with a great show record.  As beautiful inside as she is out, Bubbles has won championships at shows all over the East Coast.

Suitable for a novice rider, she is a wonderful mover who always wins her hack classes, has auto lead changes and a quiet, sweet personality. Bubbles is a barn favorite. She is currently available for either a half or full in-barn lease.
